Environmental Transportation
More than ever, environmental priority is at the heart of LOGIBEL’s actions. Already in 2005, the concern to protect the environment and the development of green thinking were colouring the company’s operations. The choice of increased use of rail transportation in all spheres of our activities was made in order to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Our social responsibility to protect the environment therefore goes beyond mere words. On average, each year, our operations prevent the emission of 1,608 tons of greenhouse gases.
Our projects under development will allow us to increase these numbers to an additional 4,500 to 5,000 tons per year within five years!
Adding a graphic element to our signature
In order to reflect our philosophy of reducing our environmental footprint through the use of environmentally friendly means of transportation in the way we serve our customers, we have added a reflection to LOGIBEL’s image.
Without wanting to reinvent our visual identity, we were careful to add a graphic element corresponding to our values, which also include the importance of the ties we create with each of our clients.
Thus, the reduction of the human environmental footprint has emerged as a flagship and strong point in our reflections. Together with the Quatorze company, we have added this element to our signature.

Increasing the number of railcars, reducing emissions
Together with various business partners, we are advocating for the rehabilitation of railways to allow more businesses to have access to them and thus further reduce their environmental footprint.
In particular, we have worked with Sartigan Railway and Canatal, on the rehabilitation of the rail service between Beauce and the Thetford Mines region, confirmed in December 2019 by the ministère des Transports du Québec.
In addition, since 2005, we have worked with various companies, including Central Maine & Québec Railway, to develop the regional market and thus create and maintain responsible jobs. LOGIBEL is also a member of various committees whose mission is to improve safety in rail freight transportation, to make the train not only an ecological solution, but also a safe one. The Lac-Mégantic downtown rail bypass project is a good example of the company’s social involvement.
According to data from the Railway Association of Canada,”If only 10% of the goods transported by truck were transported by rail, this would reduce GHG emissions by almost 500,000 tons – the equivalent of taking more than 3.6 million trucks off the road.”
