Official opening of the new facilities in Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon!

Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon, August 31, 2021 — LOGIBEL inc. officially inaugurated its new facilities located in Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon. The transshipment center is now fully operational. Customers in Chaudière-Appalaches can use this site allowing transshipment and storage over one million square feet.

Major works have been completed in the last months. The required investments exceeded $ 3 million, and were partly funded by the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ), through the Programme d’aide visant la réduction ou l’évitement des émissions de gaz à effet de serre par le développement du transport intermodal (PREGTI).

The project will allow the customers to reduce their environmental impact by using more rail transport as an alternative to road transport. The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is estimated at more than 5,360 tonnes per year. In addition, the operations will have a positive effect on road safety, by helping to reduce the number of trucks circulating on the roads of the province.

The official opening took place in front of a few dignitaries, economic partners, customers and members of the LOGIBEL family. LOGIBEL’s General manager, Mr Béland Audet, thanked the many collaborators in the project, including the Minister of Transport, Mr. François Bonnardel, the MNA for Mégantic, Mr. François Jacques, the MNA for Beauce-Nord, Mr. Luc Provençal, MRC de La Nouvelle-Beauce, the municipality of Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Développement économique Nouvelle-Beauce (DENB), and Chemin de fer Sartigan.

The establishment of the Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon rail transshipment center supports the strengthening of the sector’s economic base by improving access to the main foreign markets, in addition to increasing the benefits for industries using LOGIBEL’s services by offering them a competitive alternative to freight transport. This project allows the creation and maintenance of a dozen direct jobs, in addition to the creation of a minimum of 20 indirect jobs.

“As co-chair of the Québec government rail transport Forum, I am pleased that our government supports projects in line with our priorities in terms of transport safety and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. And as the MNA for Mégantic, it is a great pride to see a company that started its activities in our district share its expertise elsewhere in Quebec.”

François Jacques, MNA for Mégantic and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing (municipal affairs component)

“With the investment of our government, we are demonstrating the commitment to our businesses in order to support them in their development. This is a concrete example of our desire to promote greener travel on our roads. I am very happy to see the result of our great collaboration today. These new facilities will undoubtedly have positive effects on the other major projects under development in the Beauce-Nord region. The launch of these operations is a tangible proof that it is possible to think big and accomplish significant things quickly!”

Luc Provençal, MNA for Beauce-Nord

“This is a new chapter in the beautiful story of LOGIBEL which is being written with the inauguration of our new facilities. We have succeeded in creating effective partnerships and collaborations which I am sure will continue in the coming years. I want to thank all those who believed in this project and made it possible. I am very pleased to witness the work accomplished. This new transshipment center not only allows LOGIBEL to expand its activities to cover a large part of southern Quebec, but we are taking an additional step towards reducing our collective environmental impact, which is a very important mission for me.”
